Screening Plagiarism

To uphold academic integrity and prevent any form of plagiarism, all manuscripts submitted to Economic Resilience Reports (ERR) are required to undergo a rigorous similarity check using Turnitin software prior to being forwarded to the peer-review stage. Works must satisfy the following criteria to be deemed free of plagiarism:

1. Requirements for Paraphrased (Indirect) Citations
When incorporating another author's ideas indirectly through paraphrasing, writers are expected to express those ideas completely in their own language and sentence structure. Simply copying the original text verbatim, performing minor word substitutions, or pasting excerpts exactly as they appear is strictly forbidden. Additionally, all reading sources referenced in the paraphrased content must be properly acknowledged in accordance with standard scientific writing conventions.

2. Standards for Verbatim (Direct) Quotations
If an author chooses to reproduce a passage word-for-word from another source, the following formatting rules apply:

• For direct quotations consisting of fewer than 40 words, the excerpt must be placed inside quotation marks to indicate it is taken verbatim.

• For direct quotations that run more than 40 words, the text should be presented as a separate, indented block (hanging paragraph) and set in a different (smaller) font size to clearly distinguish it from the main body of the manuscript.

3. Obligation to Attribute External Ideas
Whenever an author utilizes concepts, theories, or viewpoints originally conceived by other individuals regardless of whether these originate from published articles, unpublished manuscripts, oral communications, written correspondence, or any other medium the source must be explicitly and formally cited. Proper attribution must be given in all such cases, ensuring transparency and respect for intellectual property.
